The Jallianwala  derives its name from that of the squirer of this part of land during the precedent of the Sikh Empires. It was then the property of the family of Himmat singh , who originally came from the village of Jalla district of the Punjab in India. The family were collectively known as Jallewalle.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919,Mahatma Gandhi declared an All India Strike against the Rowlatt Act. People together in opposed this act at Jallianwala bagh Amritsar Punjab.
 General Reginald Dyer ordered armed forces of the British Indian army  to fire their rifles into a group of unarmed Indian civilians  in Jallianwala bagh ,Amritsar ,punjab killing at least 379 people and injuring over 1,000 other people. 
During this incident, there were no escape way. The narrow Gate was blocked by the army and people either ran towards the walls or jumped in the well.



Udham Singh, a revolutionary of the Ghadar Party, He took the Revenge of Amritsar massacre from killed General Dyer .Michael O'Dwyer in London on 13 March 1940.

This place is nearest to golden temple / harmandir sahib . This is must visit place to know/understand that how we got freedom from brittishers , understand sacrifice of freedom fighter .
